The primary difference between these genders is that men are resolvers and women are relaters. Being resolvers, men tend to focus on doing, resolving issues, finding solutions and solving problems. As relaters, women generally focus on pleasing, understanding, feelings, communicating, exploring emotions, making connections and being understood. An opposite gender can understand differently than the other because we all perceive things differently. For example, one gender can see the glass as half full, and the other can see it as half empty. Even though it is the same thing, we all see, hear, understand or comprehend things differently because of our gender. Communicating across cultures improves productivity and promotes healthy and happy learning and work environments. It helps to understand cultural differences and language problems/barriers. However there are problems and challenges of cultural differences or communication. Culture can be viewed by which groups of people understand and interpret or view the world. Generally there are two types of cultural differences. They both affect communication. Differences in body positions and movements; and differences in views and practices concerning various factors of human relationships (time, space, intimacy ect. ). Body languages differ among cultures as well. For example, sitting versus squatting, and manners of walking, communication with body parts- hands, arms, head ect, may also vary by culture. Diversity describes the reality of a national and world community made up of people from different cultures with different kinds of languages and social customs very different from our own. Communicating with different cultures does not come easy, because of a lack of knowledge. It is important to be open minded, listen and try to understand others differences. Put yourself in their shoes. Our ways of thinking and our orientations to our environments are important, we each learn diverse culturally based sets of perceptual communication contexts. For someone to fully understand communication across cultures they would need to learn a little about it in order to successfully communicate. Touching and hand shaking are important to understand in cultural communication. Some cultures do not like much touching. Their handshake may be taken as weak. Other cultures that are okay with touching, have different greetings, ranging from embraces to kisses to even nose rubbing. Differing attitudes toward various factors of human relationships cause communication problems. While American English is the predominant language in the United States the number of non- native English speakers continues to grow. Although many tools can help create a productive diverse environment, one of the most important is good communication skills. We must try to be careful in our choice of word or expressions because once something is communicated it cannot be taken back. To improve communication we must better understand what t is to communicate. Verbal and nonverbal communications are the two key aspects of communication, (especially important in high context culture). In order to communicate effectively we need to utilize these communication skills. The way cultures and genders do things are all different. We do not all walk, talk, and act the same. Additionally, based on the levels of management and experience, the workforce is diversified in terms of age. The types of workforce diversity are categorized in two dimensions. The primary classification regards inborn differences, for example, gender, race, physical ability, ethnicity and sexual orientation. These are characteristics that people are born with and cannot change (George, Jones, Sharbrough, 2012). Disney has included its workforce to include proportionate ratios based on these dimensions. It has ensured that the youth has contributed to the value of the company by implementing their innovative ideas. Besides, the older generation based on skills are given different responsibilities. It has initiated a workplace program, GWWI that increases the opportunities for women to match those that the men have. Disney, as shown via its productions, has incorporated characters from different races and ethnicity. The second dimension regards education, beliefs, marital status, work culture and family background (Jackson, 2012). While education and experience contribute to the value added and the ability to handle responsibilities, most of the other factors are quite immaterial while hiring. This is because they barely affect the productivity of an employee. As such, Disney does not discriminate employees based on these elements as people are entitled to their beliefs and religion. Disney has, therefore, maintained both surface and deep levels of workforce diversity to its advantage. It has identified differences and accommodated them to ensure that its personnel provides maximum productivity (Robbins, Judge, 2012). Disney has incorporated different strategies in maintaining a diverse workforce. The most notable is the culture of acceptance approach. This method recognizes that people are different in primary and secondary dimensions. They have different needs, beliefs and work cultures. Once these variations are determined, the approach suggests, that a company should seek to accept and tolerate these differences by creating a healthy and productive working environment (Cox, 2011). Alex asks ââ¬Å"Vitamins, sir, will it be? â⬠and Dr. Branom responds with ââ¬Å"Something like that. â⬠After being injected with the drug, the patient (Alex) became very weak and needed a wheelchair to move. After Alex was shown the special films he showed drug inducing symptoms of nausea, lethargy, and weakness. The prison Chaplain seems to be scared of the idea of the Ludovico technique and is strongly against it. There are doubts to how the technique will work out and the Prison Chaplain agrees that the technique is not suitable for its purpose. The Prison Chaplain implies that the technique is in a sense ââ¬Ëevilââ¬â¢ and is not the right way in which you should condition criminals/delinquents. He says ââ¬Å"And now, talking of praying, I realize that sadly there will be little point in praying for you. You are passing now to a region where you will beyond the reach of the power of a prayer. â⬠This suggests that the technique goes beyond the limits of what is wrong, to the point where God cannot save you from it. The implementation of the technique for its purpose of ââ¬Ëcuringââ¬â¢ criminals is not a good idea according to the Prison Chaplain as it is not by any means a right kind of conditioning. Burgess also describes to us in detail of all the things that the patient has to go through, through the eyes of the patient. He elaborates the images of the films so intricately that you can picture yourself watching the film in your mind, and this causes you to have a feeling of intense disgust and disapproval of the films. He really makes you feel what the patient in the Ludovico technique is going through and scares you quite a bit with what is done. He suggests to us that drugs, NOT vitamins are being injected into the patient, and just by this fact we can conclude that it is already unethical. Under no circumstances should researchers/scientists be allowed to perform experiments with the use of drugs without the patients consent. Vitamins and drugs are not at all close to the same thing when it comes to symptoms and purpose. 3. Examine the arguments of the Prison Chaplain regarding his attitude to the L. T. Summarize his views on good and evil. The Prison Chaplain seems to be against the idea of the technique and has many doubts towards it ââ¬Å"I know I shall have many sleepless nights about thisâ⬠. He implies that the technique is unethical, ââ¬Å"Very hard ethical questions are involved,â⬠and if anything is unethical it almost always means that it is a procedure that should not be done, it is not an approved way of dealing with things. The way he makes sure that Alex does not relate what happens to him during the process of the technique to anything that has to do with himself (the prison chaplain) suggests that he strongly does not believe in the technique and doesnââ¬â¢t want anything to do with it. This could mean that it is very unethical and bad things will be done to Alex in the process. He doesnââ¬â¢t have, or want anything to do with the process of the technique, and hopes that Alex will somehow survive from it. ââ¬Å"One thing I want you to understand, boy, is that this is nothing to do with me. Were it expedient, I would protest about it, but it is not expedient. â⬠He says ââ¬Å"in a sense, in choosing to be deprived of the ability to make an ethical choice, you have in a sense really chosen the good. So I shall think. â⬠which tells us that he thinks that Alex is in some way doing good, but he also says ââ¬Å"It may not be nice to be good. It may be horrible to be good. He thinks that doing good does not always mean that it will end nicely. Doing something good may be viewed as what is right, but it does not mean that it is necessarily a good thing. From doing ââ¬Ëgoodââ¬â¢ you may become exposed to evil. 4. How far do you agree with him? Apply this to both your knowledge of the text and any of your ideas I strongly agree with his idea of good and evil. Sometimes you have good intentions in doing the ââ¬Ëgood,ââ¬â¢ but somehow evil can always become mixed up in the good in some way if it wants to. To the Chaplain, Alex is doing ââ¬Ëgood. ââ¬â¢ He wants to try and become a better person by reforming through the process of the Ludovico technique, but as we soon find out, the technique is highly unethical and should not be performed on anyone against their will. This relates back to what the Chaplain has once said before, ââ¬Å"It may be horrible to be good. â⬠In being good by reforming, he is going to become exposed to the evils of people who are going to do things against his will, and without his consent.

I continue to bring in college and MBA admissions projects by word of mouth. 7. Find an editor to do some of the editing of resumes and LinkedIn profiles that Iââ¬â¢m currently doing. Fail. I interviewed some potential editors and so far havenââ¬â¢t found the right match. I am also seeking someone to help with sales calls and client inquiries. Explore the possibility of moving to the East Coast. Iââ¬â¢ve been in the Midwest for eight years and Iââ¬â¢m feeling like itââ¬â¢s time for a change. US Government Development after Revolution - Essay Example After all, this was one of the reasons why Americans revolted against their English masters, to have their basic personal freedoms and political rights for them to enjoy. This is why these principles were enshrined in the U.S. Constitution but there were distinct periods in early American independence when the citizens alternated between liberalism and conservatism. Public attitudes regarding this matter were a reflection of the exigencies of the times back then and influenced by political thinkers. The colonial era (1607 to 1783) was a period when individuals had very few rights in relation to the larger community. The frontier mentality necessitated that individuals have to subsume their rights for the greater good because it was necessary for survival. Many colonial writers, political thinkers and philosophers extolled this virtue but things underwent a radical change after the American war for independence. The revolution was a success and American citizens now had to contend with what to do with their lives and their government. This paper is a short discussion on the developments of the American government after the Revolution. Discussion The United States of America gained complete independence from Great Britain via the Treaty of Paris signed on September 03, 1783 and ratified by the two countries on January 14, 1784. The agreement was notable for a few things, primary of which was it enlarged the boundaries of the new country and the American state legislatures were given the freedom to recognize the rights of real loyalists (former real British subjects) whose lands, estates and properties were confiscated during the course of war. Wording of instructions of the Congress of the Confederation (this was the name of the government back then) left it to the discretion of individual states on how to proceed on this point as it merely stated ââ¬Å"earnestly recommendâ⬠without any sanctions for possible violations. As can be seen by subsequent events, some state legislatures reneged on this undertaking by failing to return confiscated properties, refused to pay old debts to former British creditors and confiscated anew some properties supposedly to pay off old debts owed to them by some loyalists. In other words, the prevailing situation after Independence was quite chaotic, as the central government was powerless to impose its will on the states.
